There is no single “correct” Route 66 trip.

Some travelers begin in Chicago. Others start in Santa Monica, Arizona, Oklahoma, or wherever their time and interests take them. Historic American Journeys lets travelers choose destinations, build a Journey Profile, and discover experiences organized around the way they actually want to travel. The route may be historic. The journey is personal.

Step Two

Choose destinations in the order that works for you.

Chicago is the historic eastern beginning of Route 66, but it does not have to be the beginning of every traveler’s trip. A traveler may add Chicago, Flagstaff, Tulsa, Santa Monica, or any other destination to their own journey.

This keeps the platform useful for cross-country travelers, regional trips, weekend visits, eastbound journeys, and travelers entering the route midway.
